Kottmeyer Wins UFO Writing Award

Martin Kottmeyer, who writes extensively for The REALL News, tied for first place in the Dr. Alexander Imich Contest No. 5 for papers contributing to the understanding of the interaction between the UFO phenomena and humankind. This contest was sponsored by the Society for Enlightenment and Transformation of the United Nations.

Eighty-four entries were received from around the world. The judges chose to divide the prize between Martin Kottmeyer and Nicholas A. Reiter.

Kottmeyer won this award for his essay, "Flaps," which set out to show how most American UFO flaps could be explained by the use of the psychology of paranoia and triggering events, including collective shame.

Details of when and where this essay will be published are not yet finalized.
